Addressing Computational Viewpoint Design

چکیده
Distributed System design is a highly complicated and non-trivial task. The problem is characterised by the need to design multi-threaded, multi-processor, and multimedia systems. Design frameworks such as Open Distributed Processing (ODP), the ITU/ISO standard, define a number of viewpoints from which the design of a distributed system should be approached. To use the framework, a design language for each of these viewpoints must be defined. This paper defines a computational viewpoint language based on the Unified Modelling Language (UML) and Component Quality Modelling Language (CQML). The use of this approach to provide the ODP viewpoint languages enables standard UML tools to be used as part of an ODP compliant design process; and in addition, it will potentially enable the use of Meta Object Facility (MOF) based generation tools for constructing tool support for our language.

A Computational Market Model for Distributed Configuration Design
This paper presents a precise market model for a well-defined class of distributed configuration design problems. Given a design problem, the model defines a computational economy to allocate basic resources to agents participating in the design. The result of running these “design economies” constitutes the market solution to the original problem. After defining the configuration design framew...
متن کاملThe role of the RM-ODP Computational Viewpoint Concepts in the MDA approach
An MDA design approach should be able to accommodate designs at different levels of platformindependence. We have proposed a design approach previously (in [2]), which allows these levels to be identified. An important feature of this approach is the notion of abstract platform. An abstract platform is determined by the platform characteristics that are relevant for applications at a certain le...
متن کاملWriting and executing ODP computational viewpoint specifications using Maude
The Reference Model of Open Distributed Processing (RM-ODP) is a joint standardization effort by ITU-T and ISO/IEC for the specification of large open distributed systems. RM-ODP is becoming increasingly relevant now because the size and complexity of large distributed systems is challenging current software engineering methods and tools, and because international standards have become key to a...
متن کاملSecurity-Aware, Model-Based Systems Engineering with SysML
Addressing the cyber security demands of industrial control systems is a challenging task as the systems are typically built from equipment with limited computational power and integrated into highly complex, infrastructure-critical systems. To ensure the security of such systems, security considerations must form a ubiquitous part of the design and maintenance processes. This work provides an ...
متن کاملDesign And Implementation Of A Lexical Data Base
This paper is concerned with the specifications and the implementation of a particular concept of word-based lexicon to be used for large natural language processing systems such as machine translation systems, and compares it with the morpheme-based conception of the lexicon traditionally assumed in computational linguistics. It will be argued that, although less concise, a relational word-bas...
